Mobility swings vs Leg Raises - 02-02-2010, 12:17 AM

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could give some clarification of the differences between these two exercises and when they are used, in a few posts it has been specifically stated they are different yet I cant remember reading/watching anything about the relative differences in the book or DVD.

Thanks

Hi to me they are the same -). But I regard mobility swings as a dynamic leg warm up that is done in a continuous swinging motion while leg raises is more specific e.g front leg raise, side leg raise and is some sort of a kicking drill.

My understanding is mobility swings are a stated a dynamic stretching exercise, performed as a continuous motion to the maximum of your natural range, which increases as you warm your muscles. The key is not to force the stretch too much as your rage of motion will increase as you warm the muscles and joints
I would say that leg raises differ in so much that the motion is slower and the position is held to build strength.

Hi, I think you are referring to leg ups. That's the static stretch that is held to build strength as you mentioned. These are just terms used to differentiate the stretches. Mobility swings and leg raises are dynamic stretching exercises as specifically stated in the ES book.
