Let me give you some perspective on where I am at. I have been practicing Shorin-ryu for about 2 years. When I started I purchased the splits & flexibility DVD but didn't understand the proper use of the routines. Looking back I mainly did the light stretches which helped but never got me to where I needed. On June 4th 2009 I had my L5 and S1 vertebrae fused. For 6 months I wasn't allowed to do anything. Since Dec I have been back at trying to get flexible as well as dealing with a lot of muscle pain in my hips and legs.
I notice that when I am warmed up and have stretch I feel great but minutes after I am done with my routine I tighten up in my lower back, hams and hips very fast.
I would love some comments on this routine.
Morning
Rotations,
Dynamic Conditioning (50 reps of squats, dead lifts and lunges)/Static
Light stretches (30 seconds hold)
Dynamic warm-up 8 per
Evening
Dynamic Conditioning/static conditioning
Light stretches
ELC (every other day New haven't added this yet)
Thanks for all of help.

Paul, first thing I see is dynamic static conditioning twice a day. I would only do this 3 times a week, once a day. That much of dynamic and static strength work can deplete your body and explain tension right after the stretches.
I would simply do light stretches every morning after joint rotations.
Conditioning, Deep Stretches and ELC I would leave for the evening.
Getting tight right after the workout can indicate Arthritis. You may also be getting too little or not absorbing certain basic nutrients.
I would use castor oil before and after the evening workout. I would use it 2-3 times on the days that you are not doing deep stretches too.
